Dunk Island
Dunk Island is a beautiful island located on the Great Barrier Reef at Australia's east coast. Dunk Island is one of the largest islands that are a part of the Family Islands National Park and sits opposite Mission Beach on the mainland.

The island was settled in the 1800s and was utilised for its timber and for grazing land.

Out of its 970 hectares, Dunk Island has 730 hectares of national park. Dunk Island is a natural beauty and has soft, sandy beaches, hills as well as semi-rugged terrain and Mount Kootaloo stands as the islands highest mountain at 271 metres above sea level.
The Aboriginal word for Dunk Island, Coonanglebah, translates to 'island of peace and plenty' and it certainly is. You can spend your time on Dunk Island walking through its rainforests or National Park walking trails, or go snorkelling down at Muggy Muggy Beach.
